Commissioned by the Marriott family of Bairnsdale, Ranui was built at Paynesville boatyard in 1908 as an open pleasure boat. It was cut in half and extended by 7 feet in the 1950's then the cabin was added. The boat stayed in the Marriot family for over 100 years and has always been on the Gippsland Lakes. The boat is currently being restored by local shipwright David Ashworth and his family
