Propulsion: powered by a 40 hp CT outboard motor.
Betty Jane is a Gen E design with a unique Australian fishing boat deck and cabin. The top sides differ greatly from the original plans and were designed and built by the builder Paul Woolveridge. The hull is based on an American tug boat, how ever the overall look is a cruiser. Construction took two years and the entire boat is highly finished with lots of bright work. It was always my dream to design and build a timber mini Cruiser. List of Betty Jane's fit out includes: galley, composting loo, two 6.5 feet sleeping berths, fridge and freezer, power winch, hydraulic steering, sliding door on drivers side and lots more.

Betty-Jane was launched in May 2019, in a build-time of 2 years. The boat is a Gen E design with a unique Australian fishing boat deck and cabin. All timber used is Australian timbers such as Hoop Pine, King Billy, and Huon Pine. The top sides differ greatly from the original plans and were designed and built by the builder Paul Woolveridge.
The original plans called for a small diesel to be fitted in the cabin but Paul decided on fitting a 4-stroke outboard. On doing so, this created a much roomier cabin and kept the motor noise to a minimum. The motor is different to a normal outboard as it has an extra-large gear box and spins an 18 inch (45cm) hi pitch prop at a much slower speed than a standard outboard. It pushes Betty Jane's displacement hull along at around 8 knots cruising speed.
It is very important to show would be amateur boat builders what can be built with a basic workshop with time and patience. I feel Betty-Jane is of great public interest as the boat creates mass onlookers wherever it goes. She has two 7 feet (2.1m) sleeping berths, composting toilet, fridge, sink, all safety equipment and an electric winch and much more. Betty-Jane makes up one of three boats travelling from Batemans Bay.
