This beautiful semi-displacement hull was constructed from NZ Kauri by Bulls, Metung, in 1952 for the Dahlsen family. Originally powered by a petrol side valve V8 and currently powered by 4-cylinder Steyr diesel, with a Borg Waugner velvet drive transmission, and a maximum speed of 15 knots.
Kestrel was sold to the Hay-Smith family in 1960, and a generation or two later, it is still enjoyed by the family on the Gippsland Lakes.
