Lowanna is a Boomerang 20 class trailerable yacht ( No.158) built in 1976 for her 21 yo owner by Maison Marine who were at that time located in Avlona Street Mordialloc. Being 208 LOA, she has a vertical lift keel containing all her 500  pound lead ballast. Working sail area is 183 square feet with a Genoa and spinnaker for racing. The cabin contains four bunks, a galley and a head.
Her deck and cabin interior were fitted out by her owner with much assistance from his father. Being based at Hastings Yacht Club she raced and cruised extensively on Western Port and also cruised Lake Eildon and the Gippsland Lakes. Lowanna won her division in the windy 1988 Marlay Point Overnight Race.
Sold in 1992, she had several owners before being bought back in 2020 by her original owner. Lowanna was in a neglected condition and not able to be sailed. Since 2020 she has been slowly restored with some modernising modifications whilst in a storage yard at Hastings and is now back at Hastings Yacht Club for cruising and racing.
