Lily Bet was a creation of JJ Savage and Sons as a humble but reliable fishing boat destined for life in Port Phillip Bay (Rosebud/Rye) Boat Hire for the pleasure of holiday makers to have ‘a spot of fishing’. As a 15ft fibreglass inboard powered open boat, designated by Savage as ‘The Fisherman’, it was one of several designs available at the time.
After her working life ended she lay idle for many years. Its inboard engine and drive-line removed and the hull patched. She was rescued by the current owner who destined a future in a different mode of water enjoyment, th/at of a ‘lazy’ Lakes Day Boat.
Lily Bet is now the result of over 1000 hours of ‘home workshop’ devotion to a dream
