Propulsion: Sail
Construction: Timber
Owner: Mick Stapleton
Tigor is a beautifully crafted Ness-style yole, a classic double-ender measuring 18 feet in length. Built from rich red cedar and featuring distinctive celery top ribs, she showcases traditional timber boatbuilding at its finest.
Tigor was built in Williamstown and completed in December 1997, when she was first sailed. Shortly afterwards, the young woman who built her went overseas, and the boat was laid up — remaining out of the water from 1997 until she was acquired by Mick Stapleton and Sue Steel six years ago.
True to her heritage design, Tigor has no centre plate, reflecting the simplicity and elegance of the original yole style. Her graceful lines, fine ends and balanced proportions make her both eye-catching on the water and a standout on display.
A timeless wooden boat that celebrates craftsmanship, character and classic design — and a lovely story of renewal and return to the water.
