Samsara,f rmally known as Nellie, was designed by Bruce Masters of South Australia in 1990, and built over a 16-year period in East Gippsland by Bernard O’Kelly. Bill Jones joined forces with Bernard in 2001 to assist complete the build.
 
Locally sourced Blue Gum and Spotted Gum make up the hull planking, ribs, roof bearers, and dead woods. Yellow Stringy and Red Gum make up the stringers and knees. Deck timbers of Celery Top, and capping rail of Mahogany. She was launched in 2007, and has graced the waters of the Gippsland Lakes in true gaff cutter style and elegance. Several Bass Strait crossings to Hobart were thrown-in as testament to her sea-going attributes.
