Goolara is the sister of Girralong and Goondaloo, three G class Pilot Vessels constructed between 1956-1958 on Goat Island by the Maritime Services Board (MSB) in NSW. Originally designed and built by MSB, Goolara, initially an ex G class pilot cutter, has been transformed into a capable passage maker. It served as a Pilot Cutter until 1979, showcasing the robust craftsmanship and enduring design principles implemented by the MSB.
